There was and there wasn’t.

Once upon a time..

long long ago..

beyond seven mountains, beyond seven forests...

Happily Ever After..

There was and there wasn’t…

Every culture has its own phrase for the beginnings of a story. There was and there wasn’t comes from Arabic fairytales. (citing from Barbara G Walker’s book, the Woman’s Encyclopedia of myths and secrets)

So here it is. There was and there wasn’t. A land of green pastures, tree spirits and little blue humanoid creatures who worship a great vaginal spider in the sky…

There was and there wasn’t. A great existential uncertainty. Was it? or Wasn’t it? who knows what there really was, or wasn’t. What was the material, and wasn’t there spiritual? Was there the tree and wasn’t there the spirit that lived inside?

All i know is a great spider lady sat atop her own tuffet, guarding a mysterious cave. She was the great woman of the mountain. Open Sesame, and once you enter that vaginal seam, you were reborn into a land of milk and honey. Gardens and palaces. The heavenly fairyland in the spiritual realm all the blue humans wanted to reach or attain. They traveled far and wide to make their pleas to her. They danced and prayed and crawled on their knees. They sacrificed deer and sheep and horses and sometimes their own kin. They drown in the river waters trying to enter, battled with the fierce mermaids and their fish soldiers, who protected the cave.

They devoted their lives in their pleas to the great vaginal spider of the sky. Devoted their earthly lives for the spiritual plane elsewhere, which was, or wasn’t. Always failing to notice the spirit in the sun who said good morning in the east and goodnight in the west. The spirit in the trees who bore them fruit and whistled out oxygen. The soil and waters who gave them life all around, from the flowers and herbs along the riverbed, to the mushroom babies who provided placenta to the trees, to all the animal creatures in their lands who made sure the blue men weren’t lonely. There was beauty and spirit all around them, for there was and there wasn’t. The spiritual promise of the beauty of their own lands.
